Wondering what everyones favorite courses to play around the NEPA area are. I prefer Glenbrook in Stroudsburg, Shawnee and Hideaway Hills in Kresgeville.

It's been a while since this thread posted... and since I've been here in CD,... happened to see the question. My husband enjoys going to Blue Ridge in MtTop. He was just there yesterday! We live in the valley, so it's a relatively short drive. I don't know how it compares to other courses in the area.

I have to agree with the above and add Stone Hedge between Factoryville and Tunkhannock...gorgeous course with great views. If you ever have the chance to play at Lords Valley Country Club you should JUMP at that as well...that is by far the most immaculate course I have ever played on in NEPA...but it is not public. The fairways there are like carpet and the course sees very few rounds played on it...so it is alway in incredible shape.

I have not played golf in recent years - but there are lots of nice courses around..

Mountain Laurel just outside of White Haven is nice.

I played at Stonehedge a couple of times, some of them cart paths were pretty steep - almost needed 4x4 to climb them...

There is a very nice 9 hole course located in Orange - a couple miles past Francis Slocum State Park if you head up on west 8th street..

JohnQ - how are the crowds these days on the courses? One of the reasons I gave it up was that the courses got so crowded years ago a that it took forever to play a round. Not that my game was ever good enough to be affected by slow play, but it just wasn't as enjoyable.

Fall rates are in now, and its not too crowded,Pine Hills has to be hit around 10:30 on a nice day or you catch the scat players.. when I dont want crowds I go to Sleepy Hollow, the front is short but the back is nice.. especially now with the fall colors.. Scranton muni isnt too crowded either, you can call and ask what times are best to beat the wait for foursomes..

I like to golf but plan on getting back into fishing in a big way next spring. I fish strictly catch and release and i take the time to pinch the barbs down on my lures. I'm going to buy a a small boat with an electric motor for starters and maybe a canoe. Supposedly paupacken lake (where i bought) is a good fishing lake but i would sure appreciate any tips about other good spots in the area. There's so many lakes and ponds around there but i'm gonna have to figure which ones i can get on and which ones are private.
