Out with friends today in Miford. Came up 01 (or Milford Road as most of us know it) and went down a road near Meadow Chapel Church. I see a house with a huge confederate flag, huge! then about 15 German Sheppards running in the yard - thank godness we were in a car, and a house with no front doors on it, a picnic table where maybe folks ate about a week ago and it was never cleaned up.

Never saw anything like this since I have been up here. Has anyone else experienced anything strange like this?

My goodness!!

Yes. There is a really questionable family living near my husband's childhood home. Rumor has it they are inbreds. The yard is strewn and full of garbage, junk, crap, etc. It's few and far between, but those types of families exist.

This is very odd. I have never seen anything like this in PA. This sounds like an area in the backwoods of Arkansas.

Although it's cleaned up now there used to be a place like that coming into PA on Route 326 from Maryland. I should have taken pictures of the sign sequence "Welcome to Pennsylvania, Bedford County, Southampton Township, TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT AND EATIN, etc." but I didn't exactly want to stop or even slow down.

There's a relatively tidy place in the Borough of Middletown, Dauphin County, where they proudly fly the Stars and Bars with a couple of chained up dogs. Likewise I didn't feel like stopping for a photo.

I've certainly seen some sad looking places in Susquehanna, Bradford, Tioga, Clearfield, Cambria, (especially) Fayette counties too.

Actually right around where I grew up in Cortland County, NY one guy had the Stars and Bars painted on an old Plymouth - before the Dukes of Hazzard was on TV.

Very sad. That's what gives this beautiful commonwealth a bad name.

Exactly, you felt like if you were out of the car you may be in trouble. It was disturbing and those german shephards looked and acted like they would tear your head off. No front doors? Nothing that I have ever experienced up here.
