Thank you! I hope everyone has a warm home or place to stay, something good to eat, and someone with whom to share it. Happy Thanksgiving.

Creme, do you have any fond memories of Thanksgiving from when you were young? I remember watching The Wizard of Oz while my mother was busy in the kitchen. Whoever scheduled that was a genius. We didn't have color TV though, so the whole concept of Oz being prettier than Kansas was lost on me. Still, there was a dog and munchkins.

What about the rest of you? Did you stay in or go out? Did you eat turkey or something else?

I'm still eating turkey from Wednesday - I had to work Thursday. But, while everybody was spending it; I was raking it in!

I don't miss working holidays. Actually, I don't miss working at all, except the money.

I went for a longish walk after eating cornish game hen and baked sweet potato.

We were going to have one of those Cornish game hens; but somebody pumped that little sucker up to about 24 pounds! Actually; nothing like a 'free' turkey! We were allowed up to 21 pound birds at Shop Rite. They had many that only weighed around 15 to 17 pounds and then they had a few that did not quite make the weight limit. It only cost us a couple dollars for the few pounds over.

As part of my exercise program (work) I lost 20 pounds since I went back to work in September. Now I think I am 4 pounds over! It isn't that bad; but I did put on about 4 pounds for Thanksgiving (is that what we are supposed to be thankful about?).

I never minded hard work - it does keep me in shape. I also almost always worked nights, holidays and weekends. Some people pay to go to the gym; I get paid for my workout! I had coworkers that told me I would work myself to death - they are all dead (seriously). They retired and went home and did nothing. Humans were not meant to do nothing - we were foragers, gathers, hunters and (like you just did after your Cornish hens; we had to walk).

As soon as I have layoff time I put on weight. I have to learn to stay away from video games!

Cornish game hen on steroids?

Don't have the patience, desire or need to cook anything bigger. Just me so one of the little birds is just right.

and the ferals were pigging out on the skin, and other yukky stuff. I even got to pick one up.

It's just another day. Plenty of people work on holidays. I just said in another thread that when my son was in high school, he worked on holidays so that people with kids didn't have to. He also got time and a half. I'm not sure if that was altruism or greed. Doesn't matter. Someone who wanted the day off got it.

My Thanksgiving dinner was on Friday. It was steak, mushrooms, roasted potatoes, and asparagus. We decided to not make hollandaise, and forgot about dessert. A pint of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream to the rescue.
