Scranton as a rule doesnt take brush, there is a leaf pickup every fall, but it is sporadic and not well run, you have to rake your leaves to the curb and you just might have a giant frozen leaf speed bump till spring. If you have a truck, I suggest taking yard wastes to the recycling center on Boulevard Ave
As for garbage pickup, look outside and do as your neighbors do!!!

Yeah, this city seems to think the interwebs are only there to provide you with phone numbers and photos of the mayor: Scranton, Pennsylvania - Department of Public Works

Recycling days depend on your street and what side of the street you're on. I think they always coincide with your garbage pick-up day, with weeks alternating between paper (red bin) and glass/metal/plastic (blue can).

The Times usually publishes the leaf pick-up days, but if you call and find out when they are, please post back here!

well atleast scranton takes big items, like couches. On Long Island, you would have to call in for a special pickup where a dump truck shows up for a couch. For leaf material they do the same, push into street. There though they sent calendars out stating the specific days for leaf pickup.

They're picking up leaves this week instead of newspapers. Just rake them to the curb, don't bag them, they use a big vaccuum to suck them up.

And for brush, they usually will take brush I put out for garbage pickup, as long as its not an excessive amount.
