Just beware the prices at Woodloch Pines. It is a beautiful resort with lots of activities, but it is extremely expensive. It reminds me of the resort that the family stayed at in "Dirty Dancing".

Try this place, I pass it often in Milford, and it has always seemed like a cozy place to stay:

Myer Country Motel

Let me know if you need any other Milford info. I'm new to the area, but like to poke around.

Milford is a lovely town, the Hotel Fauchere is about as far from rustic as you are going to get, it's a touch of elegance in the Poconos. They have a very informative website. Also in the heart of Milford (and a little less pricey) are Laurel Villa, very cozy bed and breakfast, each room has private bath and your own TV and Myer Motel - a little compound of duplex cabins around a common area. I have had family stay in all three and I feel confident in recommending them. The shops are great, the Milford Diner can't be beat for lunch and either the Dimmick Inn or the River Rock Inn for dinner - all within walking distance.

Thanks lady309 and everyone else! will check out Myer hotel, etc. Hotel Fauchere looks lovely (though pricey). Thanks also for dining tips! Sounds like a great place, esp. if the people are as nice as they are on this thread!!
