I am surprised there is no B&N in Scranton, but two in Wilkes-Barre. It's crazy that in a city of Scranton's size there is only one small used book store.
Well, there is a Borders, but its in Dickson City.

God, I love this place! One can be teleported from downtown Wilkes-Barre to Pittston/Pittston Twp. without ever leaving the sofa!

But I'm all alone - everybody else is still at the party on the Square. <sigh>

I will make a point to read the Police Blotter section of the Times Leader to find out the names of the party attendees.

Let's go back down to Wilkes-Barre, shall we?

What do you think the feasibility and expense would be of turning the Irem Temple into a Children's Museum?

It's an excellent idea, mag, but I fear the expense would be formidable. From what I understand there is much deterioration inside. If a philanthropist would offer a start-up fund, perhaps the community would come together with pennies, dimes and dollars contributions, much as they did the Kirby.

That's a great idea. I really do wish I could do something to get a children's museum in the city. I think it would be such a great addition to our city.

Pettition the city to used some gambling proceeds next year when they are released, or contact The Luzerne Foundation about your idea. It's worth a shot.

Schoolchildren could have their own little fundraisers in the classroom and turn the proceeds over to the cause. Can you picture the publicity that would generate, thereby encouraging ever-larger contributions from business and professional people? I think it could work. Hey, it got the Kirby up and running didn't it?

Oh, wait. I think I heard that ArtsYouniverse had an eye on the property. If that's so, joining forces with them might make it easier to finance, and I'm sure they'd love to have a children's museum in the complex. After all, it's important to cultivate the kids to keep the arts alive.

Ok, Mag, I nominate you to head up the committee. All in favor.
