Hi, I am interested in purchasing a vacation home somewhere in the Pocono area. I dont want to spend any more than $100,000 so I am looking for a fixer-upper. My only requirement is that it is in a good area. I have read some horror stories about a few places such as A Pocono Country place. Any recomendations as to where to go, and where to stay away from? Thanks....

Do you want to be in a gated community or out on a few of your own acres?

Well, to cover both, my recommendations....
If you like to golf, build a house at a resort and golf course
Split Rock Resort & Golf Club - A 4 Seasons Poconos Resort Located In Lake Harmony Pennsylvania

Something cheaper, and gated?
Hideout POA - Home

or just go buy a house on a few acres and be close to everything in the Poconos
Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is against the tos

those would be my recommendations.

Thanks Native... I dont really care whether its a gated community or not. My main concern is staying away from the communities that have a lot of crime. Ive checked out the hideout and Lake Harmony, but cant find anything in my price range. Thanks for the info though, ill keep looking.

No you DO care...because when it comes to sell you'll definitely want to recoup what you've invested in the place...so my advice: stay from gated communities...south of the Pocono's are better places...Saylorsburg, Sciota, Kunkletown, Kresgeville, Brodheadsville, Wind Gap, Pen Argyl, etc.,

Try Paupackan Lake Estates....its in the same general area as the Hideout but its a lot smaller...you may be able to grab a home there in your price range.

That link I provided above for Blakeslee is a few miles away from Long Pond.

My family has a cabin about 3 miles from Long Pond/Pocono Raceway.

I heard it over the weekend from local people. This seemingly happened in the past few weeks.
