I'm fairly sure WalMart will take them for free, I guess there is some value if you look around elsewhere too.

any recycling place will buy them (car -truck battery's ) you get like $5- $10 each

They should still be recycled if you can. The heavy metals in them are some of the worst pollutants and shouldn't be discarded to a landfill.

You can take household batteries to Target, Lowe's or Home Depot.

Target only takes cell phone batteries.
Best buy only takes rechargeable batteries.

Still need a place to recycle my AAA's and D's.

That would be a good bill to push in our state government: If you sell a product; you have to offer a place to dispose of the old product.

CFC bulbs (that contain mercury) will end up in our landfills. Household batteries (with lead) will end up in our landfills. I have to presume that most or our old batteries and bulbs are already there. It was never supposed to be that way. It is just that nobody is stepping forward to provide an easy place to recycle these items.
