Benefit=business opportunity, historical preservation, charitable. I also have had talks with the casino about privatley backing the project. I myself am willing to donate as much as I can to start the efforts.

50 million, 100 million or whatever it is... it's still s lot of money that apparently no private investor is willing to invest. You've probably had lots of private investors that have looked at all the possibilities of this project who have all come to the same conclusion.

Why donate? Set it up for profit, instead of collecting donations offer it as investment opportunity. If someone came to me with offer of share in this where I might be able to see a return I might be more receptive to the idea. Lot of hurdles involved with something like this but why not look into it?

When I hear donation for this project what I see is making someone else wealthy......

Now a building dating back to the 1800s will be torn down, and my money is on either a drive-thru PNC Bank or a drive-thru Walgreen's taking its place at one of the most prime corners in all of Downtown.
This is what happens when you're spending other peoples money.

As far as spending money, a non profit is always best-look at Hillside farms for example-they got donations and restored that lovely old farm and house. We can do the same, just get private business and individuals to back you and you will make out fine. I have done this twice before, once in New York City-an old bank building effort and near my winter house in florida, we came together and saved those places. I have enough money to get the porject at least started already.
