This past weekend's wind really had my mom scared, with all the large pine trees in her yard. When my dad was living, he planted many pine trees in the yard. (I think there must be about 20 trees). He died young, and over all these years, my mom was never able to keep up with them, and they have grown tall and wild. She is now 83 years old. She would love to have most, if not all, of these trees cut down, but of course $$ for extras beyond bills is limited. I can help some, without her knowing, of course, because she is of the generation of doing everything for herself. Does anyone know of anyone who does tree removal at a reasonable cost? She lives in the Pittston area. I lose sleep at night, too, worrying for her safety during windstorms, should one of those old trees go crashing into the house. I know I can look in the phone book, but I was hoping someone knew of someone trustworthy and reasonable. Thanks so much!

odessa3,

Your biggest problem with pine is that nobody wants it for firewood. If they are large diameter pines; maybe you could find a small sawmill operation that might be interested? My feeling is that you will probably need a good tree removal crew with a good sized wood chipper for 20 large trees - I don’t think that will be cheap (a lot of work).

I think when someone named Dorothy mentions that someone is Irish, it is meant as an endorsement.

Yes I am. I dont know why I said that ; maybe just in case you got someone else that had the same name, you would know it wasnt the person I meant??

I just dont know. But I do know that he took down a tree for us and had it done probably the day after I called him. Then he waited til we were back at the house a week or so later to get paid. I thought that was a good thing.

I had a 60 ft / 60 yr old pine cut from my front yard and it was the only tree in the front with easy access on a slight hill. They guy left behind 12-14 big stumps since that was extra to take those away. Guy was a local reasonable guy from other quotes I got and it cost me $700. 20 trees depending on height / accessibility could cost a fortune.
