Just curious if there are any Popeyes in the Scranton/W-B area? We just had one open down in Stroudsburg and they are already fighting over a piece of chicken: http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20110608/NEWS04/106080330&cid=sitesearch

They are also complaining about lack of parking and the traffic to get into the place.

I used to get it on the road while driving commercial truck. I always liked it better than the Colonels.

Nope.....the closest I've ever seen was Harrisburg or Philly. Not to use stereotypes, but Popeye's seems to locate where there are high black populations.

Yep. They do tend to locate in areas with dense concentrations of African-Americans. That's the same trend here in Pittsburgh, too.

Even though I am not African-American; I still like their chicken. I haven’t fought my way into the new location in Stroudsburg.

It is really great to see any new business that hit’s a grand slam on opening day.

I'm also a fan of Popeye's. Come to think of it I may just pick some up for dinner later. I think a lot of chains new to NEPA have "grand slam" opening days. If I remember correctly the Sonic in Wilkes-Barre was packed to the gills when it first opened as everyone rushed to try it out.

About fifteen years ago I used to stop at a KFC in Georgia that served buffet style. I always thought their chicken tasted better than it did locally. They shut that buffet down - I don’t understand why. They were always packed.

I don’t like the fact that KFC uses wood for a cellulose source.

If I have a choice; I would head right to Popeyes. They have some really tasty chicken.

There's a Crown Fried Chicken in W-B at S. Main / Hazle-Academy, this was mentioned before in another thread here. They also make Gyros. I believe it's a chain run by Afghanis and goes by the name of Kennedy in NJ/NY. Also geared to minority areas. Been there once and liked it, if fact it's only about 10 blocks from where we live. I don't go to KFC much (is there one here), but in the south there were a lot of Bojangles and in some areas also Church's

I love Popeyes, we take 87 back to LI just to go there! I also love Bojangles but have not had them since around 2000.

I have only been to Bojangles once or twice. It was good - but I did not like it as good as Popeyes.
When you sit behind the wheel of a truck for hours on end; you tend look forward to your chow stops. Popeyes kept my wheels turning in anticipation. Larry’s Giant Subs (in Georgia) also kept my wheels turning.

I used to love Popeyes’ Tenders and a side of their mashed potatoes and gravy - I loved to dunk my Tenders in their taters.

However; now I’m retired and I don’t have to drive myself nuts thinking about my next meal. It has also taken a few extra pounds off!
