I notice you didn't mention Chester, Marcus Hook, or Ridley Park even though they are very close and all served by the same line that services Media via SEPTA. Heck, trains go to Camden. I don't really think that rail service is an indicator one way or another on good growth.
Well sometimes things take time , Camden and Chester have a few Developments under construction.....what about the Numerous other towns served by Rail in SEPA and South Jersey? Some of these towns have problems preventing Developing....same up here...due to Chemical Clean up.

Monroe and Pike Counties are included in the NYC media market for Nielsen rating purposes. NEPA is growing modestly overall, fueled largely by minorities flooding in from the BosWash Corridor in pursuit of cheaper housing and a better overall quality-of-life. The city proper of Scranton will now likely post a population gain from 2010 to 2020 after generations of a steep nosedive that has left the city with roughly half of its heyday peak residents.
Look dude we can not be provinicial, coal cracker, white trash, homophobic, AND idiots all at once. So please pick a negative sterotype and stick to it! thank you and have a nice day!

I would much rather take a train from the Poconos into N.Y. or Hoboken then be stuck on route 80 in
traffic on a Martz bus...Never good when One company has a monopoly like the Martz buses....I still remember another bus company trying to start up out of Marshalls Creek....Buses were torched and if I rmember correctly no one was ever arrested for this and the company never tried again...At least give the people/commuters an option bus or the train. with all the damn accidents with truckers who don't get enough sleep traveling on 80, like I said, I would much rather take the train.

Look into the history of the Northern Electric Railway, their switch to and purchase of busses, and the tactics of the PUC and Scranton that gave Frank Martz the route in 1931...

It's this small minded thinkin thats keeps S/WB from progressing into the twentyfirst century. If someone wants to come to your area to sell drugs they don't need train to do so. I left the area in 01'. However I grew up there and would love to see the area reach it's full potential. I've lived all over the U.S. Baltimore, San Antonio, LA, Honolulu etc. FYI, any where you go in the states there's crime(in most places it's a lot worse than what you have). Instead of thinking of how people would be moving to your city, commuting to Jesey and NYC for work(and making alot more $$ than if they worked in the Valley), then spending their hard earned money in your city(since they would now live there) dont you realize what a boost it would be to your local economy. I just don't get why so many people in S/WB are so terrified of OUTSIDERS. I certainly miss the area, but I definately DO NOT miss the backwards thinking of the some of the people their. I pray there is a passenger railway built to hook up S/WB with the rest of the civilized world. And I hope a hard working minority family moves in next door to you. So you could spend your nights going insane peeping through your curtains, wondering if your new neighbors are big city drug dealers.

Being from LI I am now immune to the comments about all NYers being at fault for the problems of the area. I have been coming here since 1987 and I know for a fact that drugs were a problem then! Funny side comment last week my big boss said "...I want to see your New York come out..." WTheck? I am from LI, my NY coming out would be laying on the beach at Smith's point or Peconic Bay drinking a glass of green tea! LOl

This is another perfect example of why NEPA not moving anywhere. The mentality around here needs to change if we want to advance into the future, and actually be competitive. Let's get rid of corruption, and pull ourselves up to par.

Maybe we don't want NE PA to "move anywhere." Don't some people think that maybe we're happy with Scranton just being Scranton, rather than trying to turn it into some kind of suburb of New York?

I hope a train NEVER comes to the Poconos. I like the fact that it is far enough away from metro cities that deters some folks from coming up here regularly. Keep the status quo!!!
