We have a vacation home in pike county. We live in westchester county, NY so pike county is an easy 90 minute drive. We hardly ever hit traffic on the weekends. There are many lake communities in pike county. A clean swimable lake with no gas motors allowed was an important factor for us. Investigate the lake communities carefully. Some are not well run. It's great to look online, but we found it really invaluable to work with a knowledgable realtor in the area. We love that we are close to Milford, close to the Delaware and close to dozens of hiking trails with spectacular waterfalls. We like Pike County so much that we are seriously considering retiring here.

I would highly suggest Pike County.
Very rural, lots of room, and much
more scenic than Wayne.
Monroe County has a lot of crime with people
moving in from NYC and Philadelphia and
bringing that influence with them.
Anyplace is better than there.
