I hope everyone in the western part of our area is on the lookout for a tornado right now in Snyder County.
This year has been so horrific for tornados, all over our US.
Right now Freeburg and Herndon should be aware of a big storm coming their way. 1" hail..........
My friend near Joplin, Mo was just clear of that huge tornado yesterday.

Storm still showing rotation but some weakening. I wonder how many more tornados will enter our area this spring.

Can't believe these came so close. I don't like the storms in Allentown...so glad I warned family.

Wow, the US is certainly having a time of it with these big storms.
I'm very nervous about my family by Easton.....

There were reports of 60+ MPH gusts in the Forks Township area, but nothing yet confirmed.

She actually lives in Forks and was hearing a lot of banging going on while they stayed in the basement.

Tornadoes are getting too close for comfort. Had one 2 miles from my house last month. Never heard of them around here growing up. Getting kind of scary. God bless those in the Midwest!

They happened, not too often but it's not unprecedented. The other thing is so many areas are rural so its less likely to be a big deal, it's big news when it hits a place like Lake Carey which happened in 1998. Another thing to keep in mind is they are more likely to be reported these days.

The 1998 tornado came about a week before I graduated and it wasn't too far from the Clarks Summit area. I could remember taking a drive out past Tunkhannock to see the damage. Man, that was bad! That was probably the only extreme weather event I could remember other than the usual heavy rain and flooding that occurs annually during May and June, mostly June. What was laughable was the summer '99 and '02 so-called "drought." Headlines all in the local papers talking about water shortages. Water shortages in NEPA? Please. There was nothing extreme about it. I thought it was a much needed blessing-- hot, sunny, and dry. What summer should be like!

I am going back to the 1970's and 80's. You had your typical thunderstorm warnings and maybe remnants from hurricanes (wasn't here for Agnes but that was bad enough). I also live in a rural area. I'm not arguing with you but I have been here my whole life and the only time you heard about tornadoes when I was a kid was when they happened in the Midwest. Now, it's a yearly occurrence here.
