I also said nothing bad about crime in Scranton, it's there but it's not that bad compared to other areas. Please don't put words in my mouth. People on this bored (not you specifically, just in general) don't like anyone saying anything negative about things/places they love, but sorry, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Lower south side has been bad. But its a small section compared to the rest of South Side which is a decent neighborhhod of older but well-kept homes and good people. You have obviously never been to West Side. I have yet to see these "broken boarded up windows" you speak of. Have you not been in Scranton after 1990?

I graduated in 2003.

And the go back your previous comment (target and kohl's- 3rd grade comment), that just proves you think Scranton is the greatest place on earth and you haven't left NEPA in many years. You are part of the exact small-mindset of this area, which I hate. So I'm done engaging you, it's not even worth the time.

Small mindset? Excuse me Ms. Grey Poupon, but you just belittled someone a few posts back for having the "nerve" to think that Tommy Hilfiger, the Gap, Coach, etc, were high end. It people like you that have a deranged mindset and look down on middle class working people.

And because I "havent left NEPA" (actually I do get out of the area now and then), somehow I'm some lower class of human being?

You can keep your smug elitist attitude back in your cul-de-sac.

I didn't belittle anyone, you seem to enjoy doing that much more than me. Do I sense a bit of jealously? Why? because I'm 23 have a MA from NYU (which I worked 2 jobs to pay for) and I came from nothing. or is it just the fact that your kids are coming from nothing to being exactly what you are. You don't know me. I'm far from an elitist and I'm a cul-de-sac community hater. I never look down on working people, my father worked very hard and opened his own business to give me something better. NEPA is very different from many parts of the world. People here lack etiquette and sophistication, just because you're working class doesn't mean you act it. There's a whole world out there, where people have respect for all kinds of people, sadly you're too busy enjoying your french's to see it.

Very content with my life thank you. My kids are coming from nothing? Don't flatter yourself, I very well probably make more money than you and I am as educated as you are, so stop assuming that Scrantonians are all a bunch of banjo-picking uneducated hicks, thank you.

It's BOARD, not BORED. I guess they don't teach spelling at NYU.

Go Phillies, I loved your responses! Thanks.

Gotta Luv Me, Since you're so well educated and high class, why are you wasting time with the rest of us low lives? Your quote "NEPA is very different from many parts of the world. People here lack etiquette and sophistication"

Can we please get back on topic guys? It's times like these I wish they would just let me be the PA moderator already so I could smack y'all around a bit! For what it's worth, I think both of you make some valid points. Let us move on now and strive to help our friends from across the pond to find their future dream home in NEPA. I'd personally wish that they'd move into an existing "in-town" neighborhood as opposed to destroying more of our open space to contribute to our massive urban sprawl problems, but that's just my own personal opinion.

in response to my original question - which i cannot for the life of me remember LOL!!! now, but i came to the poconos at the weekend - arrived back in England this morning and i have to say,

You really do live in a beautiful part of the world and i have travelled to a few countries in my time - like to try new places and cultures.

I must say i met some of the nicest, friendliest, open people i could have wished to meet.

Everyone i spoke to couldn't have welcomed us more. We really whant to continue with our relocation to PA.

Have to say i think we all have different ideas of what high crime is? I saw no evidence of these being high crime areas, saw no groups hanging around on street corners, terrorising elderly folk as they walked past, no-one walks anywhere in Pa, the distance is too far!!!!! Sorry but i come from a town when you walk everywhere.

so all in all i haven't been put off, probably even more determined to move there, looking forward to visiting again.

Also, The Crossings Factory Outlets have many fantastic stores. There are over 100 stores including Ann Klein, Liz Claiborne, The Gap, Banana Republic, Polo, J Crew, Nike, Waterford, Coach, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Coldwater Creek, etc.

You are so quick to criticize everything in this area. Where do you live?
I completely agree with you Izzymare.......In my 13 years of living in the Poconos nothing, or barely nothing, has happened in Reeders. Cresco is not a crime area either. I freely walk the town of Stroudsburg also, along with many others. ( Perhaps not at night, as in the World over)
The Crossings are fine. Wonderful stores. Surely there will be more then one store for the poster to like.
Although the poster should know that Cresco is quaint, and small. It is not a town with a storefront main street.
A good restaurant for you by the Tannerville Outlets is Smugglers, on 611.
