Can anyone recommend a good propane company? I do not have propane now but I would like to get a whole set up ,tank, lines, heater etc .So I would like a company that does it all and that can be trusted...

We use Locklins in Hamlin. We just have propane for a fire and have electric for the rest. Never had an issue with them.

Where do you live ?

We use Keystone and have NO complaints

Its a whole lot cheaper if you go buy the unit , hang it on the wall Or place it in its spot Install the vent ( if it has one ) with 2'' of clearance on all sides of the exhaust and just let them hook it up.. Its pretty easy and Im sure the instructions will show you that ,,, Good luck ..

I agree with Riverside. While I do not have propane heat (I have oil, and I hate it) I'd recommend Keystone Propane. I very rarely hear anything bad about them.

I'd suggest comparing the costs vs. natural gas, propane is hooked to the costs of oil because it's byproduct of refinement. The NG should be substantially cheaper especially if you can get hookup from street.

I believe some of the costs I heard were in the $2.50 range per gallon of propane. If you were comparing that to oil at $4 a gallon:

Propane Cost per million BTU: $34.22
Oil Cost per million BTU: $41.20

Not a whole lot of savings there, natural gas from hookup from street is going to be in the $10 per million BTU range.....yea it's tha much of a difference. If you need delivery it will obviously be more.

Once you know the rates you can make comparison here: Fuel Comparison Calculator for Home Heating

Natural gas is not available for many people.

I use Amerigas at the moment. So far, things have been alright - not great, just OK. I'm seriously considering pulling their tank and buying my own to save money though. You should probably consider that option as well.

We went with Amerigas based on price, after getting some quotes. We recently installed a generator with a 100-gallon proane tank. Basically the price was good, but we had trouble with the local office getting back to me about the installation. If you're going to get a lot of deliveries you might want someone more reliable. For me, the price was my biggest concern since I don't expect to fill the tank very often.
