Hi Folks,

We have algae and moss on the roof of the home we just purchased. Anyone had the same issue? Any contractors you would recommend?

Thanks!

Kathy

Cut the trees down that are shading the roof ,, Rent a pressure washer and From the ridge (top of roof ) work your way down to the gutters or fascia .. The alge and moss is from shade on the roof ..

If the roof is old get a new one ,, But get rid of the trees that shade the roof otherwise The moss will grow back..

Do clean the moss off from time to time, but don't cut down the trees that shade the roof. Those trees provide valuable cooling in the hot summer months. They greatly extend the useful life of an asphalt shingle roof due to reducing the effect of the sun. My home was built in 1986. It is shaded all summer, and the original shingle roof is still in place leak-free.
Oh, and my home is in a community. If it wasn't, the roof would probably last twice as long.
