I booked a vacation rental for the MONTH of December. My rental agreement shows Dec. 1 - Dec. 31 Question: When do I have to check out ?? I think the agent is trying to pull a quick one on me, she said check out is Dec. 31, 10am !!! I have never had this happen before, my rentals were always for the entire month.

As a vacation rental property owner, its very clear to me. You must be out on 12/31 by the agreed upon check out time.

We rent for a week at the beach every summer. The lease says Saturday, the fifth to Saturday, the twelfth. Check-in on the fifth is 2 PM. Check-out on the twelfth is 11 AM. Makes sense to us.

How would you be able to check in on Dec 1 if the November renter wasn't out by Nov 30th?

You've seen many replies that indicate you're wrong in your interpretation. At this point it seems like you just don't want to accept reality, and want someone to console you, or tell you that you're right. Neither is likely.

Okay, I'm wrong, just never had it happen before. I can certainly accept reality, don't need any consolation. Thanks for all the replys

LOL. But I guess you have to lose a day either on the front or back end in order for people to get in and out. Maybe if the place isn't rented for Jan they'll let you stay until the first.

Yeah, If its month to month there's gotta be somewhere in there for the owners to go in (or have someone go in) and clean and freshen up the place before the new tenants occupy the space. Just be glad youre not renting for the month of Feb!
