I was inquiring about the Milford area...pros and cons..We currently live in upstate ny and my husband would like to move closer to NYC and the shore. He works out of Hartford CT, but works at home (telecommutor) and travels to NYC and CT. We have a son in high school and won't be moving for another 3 years. please respond with another area if you wish. We are looking to downsize to a modest 3 bedroom home in a safe and friendly area. Thank You.

Ok, as the economy is now, houses are very affordable. Milford area has an excellent school system although you mention you have a child in HS so that may not be an issue in 3 yrs. Beautiful, very rural area. Depending on where in this area you are, you could have a 20+ minute drive to do any kind of shopping, especially food. If you are in one of the more rural areas, you could have NO neighbors or be in a community where houses are a bit closer together. Just like upstate, you will have the 4 seasons, although probably less of winter than you are used to. Hubby is from the Buffalo area and there have been years that we had more snow/winter than they did. Then again Mother Nature has been quite a bit off the last few years. I'm sure you will get a lot more responses. Not to mention, 3 years is a LONG time..... I hesitate to wonder just what the economy will be like then....

All of this could be good OR bad, depending on your preferences.

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully the economy will be better here in upstate NY in a few years as well since we have a home to sell here too, and would like to make a nice profit on it.

In all likelihood, the rise in sale price of your NY home will be matched by a rise in the cost of the new PA home.
