There's really not much to be said for East Mountain. It is isolated from Center City, and (in my humble opinion) it feels like its own independent community as opposed to being only a neighborhood in a larger city. The residences here range from older homes in the lower-elevated areas to middle-aged homes midway up East Mountain on up to brand new McMansions in subdivisions like Mountain Laurel Estates on the very top of the mountain (with a great view of the city). If you're approaching the city from I-380/I-84, I highly recommend you come in via Route 307 because the view from the 307 overlook is absolutely wonderful.

Very quiet setting, not many people up there besides the residents. Easy access to the city without the problems. Majority of the homes are late 70s / early 80s construction (ranch type, split level, etc). Have a number of friends up there. Also home to Waldorf park, a German American social club, that has an outdoor tiki bar and volleyball league.

I love the East Mountain area. No noise, no businesses. Lots of trees and families. Nice to walk. Like living in the country but still being close to the city.

Most houses in my neighborhood are from the 50's and 60's. Values are anywhere from $200-350,000.
