There are, happily, many exceptions, but "Dingleberry" would be a more appropriate description of some Pennsylvania hick-towns.

OR do i need to go West out toward Altoona where i know the area ? Please help !
Sounds like Shohola is what you're looking for. It is about 20 mins west of Milford, just over the border from NY/NJ. Hubby and I have affectionately nicknamed it "Mayberry". There are a lot of state gamelands around here for hunting. The school district, Delaware Valley, is outstanding. Prices are right up your alley.. everything you described.

Hubby's take on it is if you want Poconos that is NOT "city-like", you want to go north of 84 and east of Scranton... which is basically what I described in my previous post.

I don't know about Mayberry but some areas in PA sure seemed like Hooterville (2 points if you know which show that's from)!

Yes, there is. And in the interest of keeping it that way, they don't disclose the location.

There are a few reasons some call it Pennsyltucky ...

One is the unusual number of municipalities in PA , about 4x New Jersey and 3rd most in the USA! Naturally they are connected by many old back roads. Exploring them can be 'fun' and 'interesting', if you have time and patience, especially at this time of year.
