My husband and I are concidering to purchase a fairly new log home in wayne county but have many concerns about future problems. The home looks beautiful, with top of the line appliances/windows but as far as I know wasn't built by a reputibal log company. does anyone know of a building inspector that specializes in log homes? Can anyone give me advise about log homes.

Try Housemasters Home Inspectors. We used them and they have experience with log homes. Also, try asking the homeowner who built the home. When we bought ours, luckily, the homeowners gave us ALL of the information about who built the home, all of the owner manuals for the appliances, etc.

My friend who has one in Pike County talked me out of building one because of the maintenance required such as resealing and re-chinking every few years. You might want to check into it if you haven't already. Good Luck,

call that log builder and act like you want to build a house, Ask him all the questions you want, because he wants to sell you a home. you will get all your answer from his own mouth.

Yes, we're very happy with our home. Still adjusting since this is our first and since it is only about 5 years old, is still doing some settling. The home inspectors warned us that it could creak and groan for a while. Luckily, the former owners left us samples of the finish for the outside and told us what they did to take care of it so there will be less guessing for us next spring when it's our turn.

This is the home inspector we used:

Bear Tree LLC
61 Bear Tree Road Indian Rocks Lake Ariel PA 18436 USA
570-689-4855

They are a Housemaster franchise office from what their newsletter says. Jim and Tracy were great with our inspection!!

We're probably not supposed to post things like this, because of advertising and spam and all that. Since it's already out there, those two did two home inspections for me and I think very, very highly of them.
