Times-Tribune editor Lawrence K. Beaupre to retire - News - The Times-Tribune
Quote:
Lawrence K. Beaupre, managing editor of The Times-Tribune and executive editor of Times-Shamrock Communications, is stepping down after 12 years at the helm of Northeast Pennsylvania's largest news-gathering operation.
Hopefully, the new editor will tell us the other side of the story.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Beaupre isn't the only one with ties to Doherty. Don't forget, the Lynetts are BFFs with him!

It's too bad that people have no alternative. Even if Patch came to the Scranton area, at least people would have a choice. Go Lackawanna just doesn't cut it.

There you have it. Beaupre may be managing editor but the Lynett's own the biz. Remember the Times' political cartoonist, Dennis Draughon? It was about 2005 when he had an unflattering cartoon of Da Mare, and he lost his job.

That's not why Dennis is not here anymore and he left in 2004. Doherty wasn't the only politico who was friends of the Lynetts that was shown in an unfavorable light in the newspaper by Draughon - there were many others including many of McDade.

I'm well aware of the Lynetts and their relationship with crony politicos. Probably more aware then I like. Lol

The Times slanted reporting is getting old, circulation is way down and many residents are tiring of it.

Recently the Times conveniently left out that the kid killing cats in the Hill was a student of Da U. They were the only news agency that left that part out..lol

The Scranton Times circulation is in decline because more and more people are using online resources - it has very little to do with how some perceive they report. It's happening to the entire print industry, newspapers, book publishing, magazines, etc. They are all dinosaurs on the verge of extinction.

Sure whatever you say, your right people are idiots and don't know that the paper is slanted and those same idiots are ONLY using online news sources...

LOL My god, is the denial that bad, is it that hard for the Doherty humps in this city to admit that the Times protects him at ever chance they have and twist the stories to suit the mayor and admin....ITS IS AS OBVIOUS AS THE NOSE ON YOUR FACE..

I know of at least 50 people that canceled their subscriptions simply based on the papers never ending slant to every story to protect the elitist crony dirt bags in this city.

I bet that John can even come up with another 50 plus...

Its funny shoegal, no actually its kind of sad..

The Times was in decline long before Doherty was ever elected mayor. This used to be a 2 paper town and the other went under about 20 years ago due to dwindling circulation and increasing costs. The Times bought the name and subscribers and very little else. I guess that was Doherty's fault too. It's all too easy for some folks to blame the Mayor for everything and not look at the actual facts.
