Hi again, fellow Forum posters..

I've gotten such great feedback on prior postings so I hope to get some new information now. I'm up for a job in East Stroudsburg and would like to know more about the rental market and quality of life in the immediate area? We've done a brief look-around and found Stroudsburg closest to what we were looking for as far as stuff to do, shopping, etc. But if I get this job, we will need to rent at the beginning because we'll still be trying to sell our house on Long Island and won't qualify for 2 mortgages...plus a little worried about making a permanent commitment until we see how job security goes. Info is below, appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

When are you moving? Possibly in early to mid August
Where are you coming from? Suffolk County, Long Island
Why are you moving? LI is too expensive, too crowded, too difficult to get away from/off of; up for a job
Where will you be working? East Stroudsburg and sometimes from home, need high-speed Interner
Have you been here yet? Briefly

Will you buy or rent? Rent
If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend? N/A
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend? Only house or townhouse, max $1400/mo., must have at least 1-car garage and parking for 3 more cars

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Married, 20-YO son will be with us
Do you prefer public or private schools? n/a
Do you have pets? Small dog
Do you want or need a yard? Small fenced in yard would be preferred
Are you keeping a car? 4 cars, need min. 1 garage
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? Calm/quiet

What do you want to be closest to?
Shopping
Restaurants We're not fussy...chain restaurants fine, Target-type stores
Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.) No more than 10 min. drive from these

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? No preference

Phillies or Mets? M-E-T-S!!! (The kids say Yankees, but they're not paying the mortgage!)

Here is one web site: Homes for Rent in East Stroudsburg, PA | Homes.com Of course there are others listed with local realtors.

You have plenty of shopping choices and what East Stroudsburg does not have you can find in Stroudsburg, Bartonsville or Tannersville.

But you sound as if you have job security issues? Try to nail down any issues before you make any moves. Be leery of employers that give vague promises.

Thanks for moving this to the correct area...I realized after I posted that Lehigh Valley wasn't really geographically accurate. Appreciate the attention.
