If you look at the small print, it says that the largest percent of residents are Polish, and that's not on the main list of map colors. For Lackawanna County, it's Irish. I guess we're a national anomaly here
As for the south saying they are "American", that's redneck talk, they take offense when you try to ask them about their ancestry. Many are English but there are others too (Irish, German, etc)

aha, I should of looked at the image a little better. If you live here I would imagine most people have a lot of trouble defining their ancestry. If you ask most people it's "I'm 1/4 this, and 1/4 that..."

My husband was born and raised in Scranton. He is Irish, Welsh, Native American and Polish. For some reason the Polish genes seem to rule?!
