Hi,
I am new in Scranton-Clarks Summit area. Just wanted to know where can I buy roasted turkey or which restaurants server Thanksgiving turkey in this area.

Thanks in advance.

Wegman's Markets are selling ready-made Thanksgiving meals for about $80 if I'm not mistaken. This price includes a 12-14 lb. turkey, 26 oz. of gravy, 3 lbs. of stuffing, 3.25 lbs. of green bean casserole, 2 lbs. of broccoli & cauliflower with pine nuts, 3.25 lbs. of mashed potatoes, 3.5 lbs. of sweet potatoes, and 16 oz. of cranberry orange relish. This meal serves 10 people, so I don't know if you're just dining for yourself or have more mouths to feed. I think it's a very good deal to have Wegman's cook your Thanksgiving meal for $8/person though. Wegman's is noted for being amongst the higher quality grocers in the Tri-State region.

By the way, welcome to Lackawanna County, and a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. There's been a flurry of new members coming onto the forum over the past week, and I'm glad to see it. We could use some fresh blood on here to help draw the attention away from we old fogeys.

The Stadium restuarant up at the Scranton-WilkesBarre Yankees stadium is selling Turkey Dinners with all the trimmings to go. I saw a lot of advertisements in The Happenings Magazine for Thanksgiving Dinner. Here are some:
Patsels, Clarks Summit 563-2000 Thanksgiving Buffet, seatings at 1 & 4pm.
The Inn at Nichols Village Clarks Summit 585-2746, buffet also at 1 & 3pm.
Carmens at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel, 10-4pm 558-3929
If you want to take a ride into the country:
Ehrhardts Waterfront on Lake Wallenpaupack 226-4388 ext. 2, buffet 12-4
Hazzard's Raintree, South Sterling, Thanksgiving Buffet 12-6pm 676-5090.

Every single one of these restaurants has a good reputation. and are well recommended.
Welcome to the area!

Like Scranton_User I hope I can find a good place for a REAL Thanksgiving dinner, by that I mean where I can get a turkey drumstick, wing or white meat with all the fixings. I'm a single, professional guy, with no family or friends here. Last year I went to Charlie Browns for Thanksgiving dinner and it was pretty bad, turkey was very dry, and the service was really poor - haven't been back there since. I find that going to a nice place for dinner by yourself seems to imply that the waiters and waitreses can just forget about you. I guess they want crowded tables where the tips are bigger. The places mentioned in the above post are really nice for a date, but not too good to go there by yourself!!

If anyone knows any restaurant where they serve a real homestyle Thanksgiving dinner let us know.

I suppose add me onto this last of people seeking great Thanksgiving dinners. My partner will be forced to spend Thanksgiving alone since his own family is going on vacation, and he wouldn't be welcomed into my family's home, so I want to take him out either tomorrow or Friday for a nice lunch where he could enjoy turkey and all of the fixings.

LOL, I'm not trying to sound like I need a pity party or anything!!!! LOL

All I'm honestly trying to do is find a decent Thanksgiving dinner (a partner would be a + but most likely not going to happen). Oh well..... I just checked Coopers menu - nothing special for Thankgiving. The 2 hardest times of the year to get a good dinner is Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Chef Anthony's in Greentown provides a whole dinner for 8 (turkey and all the trimmings) and I believe the price was under $100. I'm not sure if it's too late to order it. Phone number is 676-3633.
