Our ducks don't like the snow and cold. They get cold feet when they get out our pond. All they want to do is sit on their feet and warm them before they move:

fish, maybe they aren't trying to warm their feet. Could be they're trying to cool their behinds! Whatever, it's a neat picture! Thanks.

No; they are trying to warm their feet! When they first come out the water; their feet get very cold on the snow with the cold temperatures. By sitting on their feet they can warm their toes. Wild turkeys will stand on one foot and warm the other foot in their feathers close to their stomach. The turkeys will also sit on both feet when the temperatures are extremely cold.

Glad you liked the picture. I just took it today.

We have already had to hand shove all four hundred feet of our driveway on two occasions when the snow was too deep to plow. Generally speaking it is cheaper to hire somebody to plow your driveway than to mess with the equipment - 'normally' we have not had that many storms (but you never know).

Anyway; I wish you and yours a very Merry White Xmas (without the work of shoveling).
I was told after the first heart attack not to shovel lol. I can't imagine shoveling a 400' driveway Most of the time,my son shovels, however I'm here and he's there

Thanks fisheye I wish you and yours the a very white merry Christmas too

At least there is a chance for some snow showers for Xmas. Almost all of our snow has disappeared. The rain and warm temperatures cleared off the land in a hurry. We can look back and talk about the year that we almost had a White Xmas!

Merry Xmas to all!

Merry Christmas, Bert and Ernie! Merry Christmas, Zuzu! Twice, I had the pleasure of portraying Ma Bailey on two area stages. A simpler time, a simple message. Merry Christmas to all.

White Christmases were more frequent in the 18th and 19th centuries, even more so before the change of calendar in 1752 which effectively brought Christmas day back by 12 days. Climate change has also brought higher average temperatures over land and sea and this generally reduces the chances of a white Christmas. However, the natural variability of the weather will not stop cold, snowy winters happening in the future.
