Need to set up a propane account for my house in Greentown. Need the tank, a line run to the house for our propane fireplace and the propane itself. Called Keystone to get a general idea of pricing. I believe he quoted my $2.89 a gallon. Could anyone suggest some other companies to call? I like the idea of using a local supplier.

I recommend Town and Country in Honesdale. They have very competitive prices and it is a mom and pop kind of operation. Amerigas will probably have a lower price initially that they use to hook you on to contract for their tanks, but in the long run prices will be similar, and you'll get to deal with friendly, local people. Just my .02.

Locklin's Bottled Gas in Hamlin (689-7100) or Sharkey Fuels in South Canaan (937-4291) are a few others you could try.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll be making some phone calls. I'm assuming that they are willing to travel out of their immediate areas.

I know for a fact that both Locklins and Sharkey deliver to Greentown.

My NJ daughter just paid 3.69 per gal for an oil delivery.
That cost her over $400 for this delivery, to top off.
Right now I am glad I don't have my NJ home with the oil heat.
Other then that, I'd of had the wood stove going......because I went
through many a delivery in the winter months. I think that the prices
are so out of control.

We have propane in our other house in NJ and that always took us broke during the winter. We had 3 100 gal tanks and it seemed like we went through propane faster than you can imagine. That and the house is poorly insulated so that didn't help either. Used the fireplace/insert A LOT and it helped.

Locklins...
a word for the out of towners...
they HATE out og towners, and aren't shy about it.
They also adjust their price depending on who you are, where yuo live and where you come from. They won't tell you that though, but just try and get them to commit to a price.
