Those of you who get DirecTV will have noticed that the satellite channel has replaced The Weather Channel with a service called "WeatherNation."

WeatherNation was founded by Paul Douglas, who was WNEP's head meteorologist until 1982 when Tom Clark took over.

Tom Shelburne III, son of the co-founder of WNEP, is founder of NEP Broadcasting, LLC, which does all of the major remote sports broadcasts worldwide and among other things operates NEP Studios in NYC, the largest TV production studios in the city. NEP was founded in Scranton but moved its headquarters to Pittsburgh after the TV station was bought by The New York Times in 1986.

I forgot to mention the most famous alumnus of WNEP-TV, Bill O'Reilly, whose first TV job was with the station.
