Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a good attorney who is knowledgeable in the Hideout within the Poconos? We are hoping to close on a house there soon.

Thanks!

I live on Long Island and closed on a short sale home in Bushkill Pa. last September. Even though I am used to using an attorney in NY, we didn't use one in Pa. and everything went well. We felt comfortable with the realtors and the Title Company. My wife and I tossed the idea around and figured we'd go for it and glad we did. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the heads up! This is my first time buying a house and would feel more comfortable with an attorney present. I only hope I can find some reputable ones familiar with the area.

I certainly don't blame you, you have to feel comfortable with such a large purchase. I wish I could help you out. Hope you find one and everything goes smooth with your closing.

We heard that he is retiring? But this attorney ran circles around Stroudsburg's best at our closing thirty five years ago:https://plus.google.com/103687629586...ut?gl=us&hl=en. Hopefully he is still practicing.

Under Pennsylvania law, the title insurance fee is supposed to compensate the lawyer for his services. That fee is a fixed amount depending on the purchase price of the home. Some attorneys will try to tack on an extra fee, don't accept that. Try this Honesdale attorney Our People - Bugaj / Fischer, P.C., Honesdale, PA.

Really? everyone has been including that fee in their estimates of closing costs. Good to know. Thanks Wells5!

We closed at the title company and felt quite comfortable with the whole process. We are also from Long Island and have only been accustomed to having a lawyer present at closings. I have to say though, the person at the title company was quite thorough.
