Pennsylvania is a rather large state. Could you be a tad more specific?

...and $500.00 per month is way too low for a low-crime area, at least in my part of PA which is Monroe County.

Also, what is prompting your move to PA from GA? Do you need access to health care? Social Services? Mass transit?

I've noticed some window signs in the Carbon County area that had rents below $600. You do need to specify where in the state and what your needs/expectations are.

probably not going to happen in Bradford, Tioga or Wyoming Counties either.

Maybe Potter county but you better not need a job.

My last apartment in wilkes barre was $475/mo with heat included. Downtown wilkes barre is cheap because nobody wants to be there. The crime is getting worse, but its not particularly bad if you stay away from sherman hills and such. The real issue is that it just sucks to be there.

Check out pocono craigslist for apts.I see apartments all the time that would compliment your budget and is a fairly safe area near highways for commuting, hospital, lots of shopping etc. Also look up a ski and snow board shop called Starting Gate on milford rd in marshalks creek and speak to owner who is a woman. When I was up here looking for affordable apartments for the family, I stopped in there and she told me her son had found a great little spot for rental cabins for 5 or 6 hundred a month utilities included not far from the shop.I never wound up looking into it but I figured Id pass the buck! This was only about a little less than a year ago, so might be something to check out.
