Hi! I hope everyone is having a good day. I am moving to Scranton in a few weeks from Orlando. I am looking for some honest opinions on Scranton. I am moving for work. I like coffee shops, bakeries, craft beers, venues for local bands, art. Can I get some opinions on the places I listed that you like to go to. I will be staying with my friend for a few weeks so I will be looking for an apartment to rent so I am looking for a place with shops that are within walking distance. I really appreciate the help and suggestions.

Scranton has only one Good Coffee shop , Northern Lights. I think there might be another one but i forget. For local bands The Bog is the big one but there are about 4 bars downtown that will have live non-cover bands. You need to be more specific with art. There are a few walking distance neighborhoods, a lot of them are industrial or run down though.

To be honest and not to scare you away, most people in Scranton seem to be looking for someplace better/bigger. For groceries I love Wegmans, and as far as local venues Montage Mountain is the place to look for big acts, Mohegan Sun will have a few. The main punk venues never seem to last, and those types of shows always end up being played in a VFW anymore. The city itself isn't what I would call walkable, although if you can find a place with decent rent in Scranton that is within walking distance to fun stuff you'll enjoy yourself.
