Hello . I'm a RN (new graduate),28 female. I'm looking into leaving Florida and moving to a small to moderate size town in northeastern PA. I was wondering if anyone could give me suggestions on places to visit and consider. I'm looking for a change from north rural Florida and a place I can start having kids, so good schools are a must and hopefully nothing with crazy crime or to many murders on the regular like the Jacksonville Florida area in florida. I'm also willing to consider other areas of PA as home prices might be better. Just thought staying within 3 hours of New York might be kinda cool?

Danville, home of Geisinger Medical Center. Also Bloomsburg which is a college town and they have their own hospital. But these are more like 4 hours from NYC.

A new hospital is in the planning stages for Tannersville in the Poconos as well, which is within 3 hours from NYC.

I'd suggest the Towanda Athens Sayre area on the NYS border, home to the Guthrie Clinic and the Robert Packer Hospital, one of the top medical institutions in the USA. A bit further west is the Mansfield Wellsboro area- very nice places to live with a fully equipped hospital (Soldiers+Sailors). Lewisburg is also very nice and home to Evangelical Community Hospital and very close to Geisinger. All of the places that I mentioned are 4 to 5 hours from NYC.

Soldiers and Sailors in Wellsboro is now part of Susquehanna Health, which also includes Devine Providence and Williamsport General, both in Williamsport, and Muncy Valley Hospital in Muncy Valley.

Guthrie system also includes Troy Hospital, Corning (NY) hospital and soon, Towanda Hospital.

What made you even consider Northeaster PA? This is the worst place to live, a living nightmare that you can not wake up from! Stay in Florida or consider Northern New Jersey (Hudson or Essex Counties).

Pittston, Kingston, Dunmore are small towns/suburbs within two hours of New York and Philadelphia and within 10 minutes of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre which are relatively large cities.

definitely small towns when compared to cities such as reading, harrisburg, sayre, valley forge,etc--besides not to mention the ambiance of all the characteristics of small town qualities in what is offered
