Filled up yesterday at home: $2.85 a gallon and $5.00 later. That is with the help of a gas stove, a budget plan and a $500.00 credit (in the black). $500.00 a month just to heat a house is quite a bit of money. Anyone else?

We are using coal and wood and then our electric heat to heat the house. I use propane for cooking and drying the clothes. I filled up the truck only half full yesterday and it was $3.18 a gallon. I am so sick of this. Something needs to be done somehow. How can we afford this? We need to revolt!

Hi Memoriesbre,

Do you have a coal stove? It is getting ridiculous, even with a budget plan it is no bargain.

Wink Yes we do!

We have this big brown thing that looks like a furnace in the basement. It works great. We burn wood also. (We have 3 acres of mostly trees) We aren't going to cut down anymore trees. We had a few dead ones, and we cut down a few for the direct tv signal. It is sickening with these oil prices. The coal works fine. I even think the electric heat is cheaper now.

Aside from the shear joy this weather brings, I am relieved I can turn the heat off for a while. All the windows are open now and I am loving it.

There is no way that the average person can handle these prices for very long. Not with what is happening to the dollar and unemployment is going up. I'm actually surprised people are not more mad. Why are people not revolting, like you say memoriesbre? Our nation has been hijacked and most of us are just kind of groggily complaining on the side lines. I'm not sure what to do but it is getting more serious than just another thing to complain about.

I'm single and I feel like I have a pretty good job yet I couldn't support a family on what I make. And I live pretty simply. It is just so messed up. I hope enough people wake up in time for the election. Ron Paul revolution.

I am so thankful that I have electric heat, I am on a budget and pay $200. a month, and that is running 4 air conditioners in the summer.
Mike..you are right...I fear what is going to happen if this keps up. Gas prices are a going up rediculously too. Diesel, which is used in a lot of farm machinery and trucks has tripled since a few years ago. These increases will reflect in the price we pay for EVERYTHING. It is too scary to give too much thought.

I agree. $3.19/gal is expensive. The most powerful revolution is to find ways of consuming less and living a simpler life. Make up your mind to consume less. Drop out of the consumer game, though it's tough to do in regard to heating oil.

blessings....franco

I Love Pa,

We are thinking of changing to electric heat with some kind of back up whenever we move. What do you think?

I paid $3.39 per gallon 2 weeks ago.......that was heating oil.

Gasoline is up to 3.07 again. Luckily I work out of my home and don't go far so I only spend about $30.00 per month.
What hasn't gone up???
