It's a businessman from the North Pocono area who wants to keep it as a mall. I'm skeptical an economically-depressed area like Scranton/Wilkes-Barre can support FOUR malls---Viewmont, Montage, Wyoming Valley, AND Steamtown---but I do admire his optimism I suppose.

I don't know what kind of deal he got but if he doesn't have that enormous debt hanging over his head like the previous owners he is going to be able to substantially reduce the cost of a lease. That is going to be very attractive to lot of business's that may not have considered leasing a property there.

I see lofts in Steamtown's future, it's the new owner's forte. The only thing that would bring me into town would be a Reading terminal type vibe and a Trader Joes to anchor. This guy likes to build luxury apartments, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes that direction

Boscov's lease gives him a veto over any major changes. He's already stated he wants it kept as a mall.

With all due respect to Al, that's not going to attract new customers to the area. Let him be the anchor then and renovate the rest to be like Reading terminal

Yes, this would be just what the mall needs.

In post number six, even though it looks like I was tongue tied, that was my first guess. Empires are always looking for ways to expand.
