Many people are doing away with the $49.00 plans when they already have cell phones. Some people, like one poster said; don't even have a lnad line. I keep the land line with basic, but sometimes I wonder why I even keep that. I try to cut costs every where I can.

I have that plan also and it's great to not have to worry about any extra charges. I would be happy to use my cell phone instead, but we have no cell service at my house.

We got a new home phone with the 570 area code when we moved here. However, I just didn't want to switch our cell phones over from Maryland quite yet, I wanted to wait a while.

I'm glad I did because it looks like we're moving back to Maryland in the next month or two...

Pittston is 602, 603, 654, 655, and 883. Scranton has a slew including 340-348 and 969. Mountain Top is 403 or 474. Bear Creek is 472. Lake Ariel is 689 or 698, etc., etc. In terms of cell phone exchanges are these normally traceable to specific communities as well?
They were suppose to back in the day. Since most cell phone companies allow you to pick a number, it dosen't happen.

I changed my number when we renewed our phone plan. They tried to let me keep it when I requested but the system kept churning me out a new number. Something about the primary person having to have a local number so I ok'd the change. My wife however did not have to and is still using the 267 Philly area code.

We haven't had a land line in four years and don't plan on getting one again. There is no need, the cell takes and makes calls just as well. It saves numbers and I can answer or call from anywhere.

I would love, love.....that.
We can't get Verizon as of right now. We are stuck with Frontier that use to be Commonwealth. We have to use them for a landline......and their charges are not cheap. I only get 350 long distance minutes, and sometimes I go over. Our plan is around one hundred a month for one line.......and those few long distance minutes.
