It is so funny that on our deed for the one street I live on there is actually RULES.
But, about 10 only and I love them.
I really regards......no second home on the land.
No trailer placed on the land.
No junk........the small rules that matter. The rest can get overdone.
The association I did put up with for 8 years......had a ton of rules......and believe me you knew they were checking on you.
They had a newsletter with photos showing the homes that did not conform.
LOL.......
They had people with cameras taking pictures of people who they thought were putting windows in without permits........alas, they did have a permit.
Oh yeah, we knew they were there. Those meetings, just lots of fighting going on......I think I stopped going after two of those.
More happiness was needed there.....and less argumentive nights, that was no fun at all.

In mine?
1. No trailors
2. No town houses
3. No house less than 2000 sq ft of area
4. No house on less than 1.5 acres
5. No more than 1 unlicenced car permitted
6. No apartment houses
7. Out buildings must be well maintained
Then there are about 50 others but these mattered to me the most.
Buyer beware
Tinman - What community are you referencing? We are looking for a community with larger lots, and there doesn't seem to be many. For that reason we're leaning towards Tink-Wig in Lackawaxen.

Default thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the feedback
This illustrates the point I was making--Those of us who DO NOT live in a community, have to rely the Townships we live in out here to have a comprehensive plan for growth that manages the conflicts between commercial and residential developments

While there is a 2 acre minimum build and no structures within I believe 50 feet of the property line, nothing prevents a lumber company developer from clearing an entire parcel once the plan for what is being built is approved.
You can attend all the planning meetings you want, but I know if an ordinance is not specific about width and height of a required landscape buffer you'll get what is minimally required.

Don't get me wrong I strongly support economic growth in Pike County, but I think requiring 10 even 5 feet from the property line to be left undisturbed or replanted on a 7 acre lot is a small sacrifice for the developer building next to residents who will spend money in those same businesses.
