Well, we made it out to PA yesterday. Our realtor couldn't get out of her driveway, but we decided to make the trip up anyway and do some drive-by's and check out the area.

We had a nice day and were pleased with what we saw. We ran into several NJ transplants and had some nice conversations with them. We went into a couple local businesses and checked out the ShopRite (very cute barn-theme going on there!). We did end up in traffic where 209 meets 115, but the worst traffic was when the high school was emptying out from a game or something.

We didn't really have any trouble driving around despite the leftovers of the ice the day before. We did end up on Russell Court (all the way up Rt. 115) and it was a little slippery up there. Our Jeep Liberty made us proud! We decided living that far north would not be for us, because I'd be by myself during the week sometimes and wouldn't want to haul the three kids and myself up and down there during the winter. Although I'm sure it would be beautiful living up there in the summer.

We also checked out Birches West and a few homes in the Mt. Laurel Drive area. We were also on Effort-Neola Rd. and route 715.

Overall, we liked the area and saw there are homes that we would like in our price range (low 200,000s).

We won't be putting our home here up for sale until mid-March, so any homes we saw yesterday probably won't be available, but at least we have an idea.

I will say I was so happy to have all of the information I've gathered from this forum. It has been so much easier to make decisions on an area and not have to start from scratch.

So glad you made it there........
Looks like you were close to my home area, and if I were home I wouldn't have made it out our driveway either.
There are some nice homes in the lower level areas around Brodheadsville, where no mountain climbing would be necessary.
I hope you got to stop into Mikes Pizza, they are so nice and friendly there.
Yes, Shop Rite was years ago the Kinsleys Market.......thus the barn roof design.
Later it was purchased by Shop Rite.
There are lots of dancing schools, karate classses, gyms, and that wonderful Library on Pilgram Way.
We don't tend to get bored at all......it is like a hub........from there we branch out to Easton, Phillipsburg, Scranton, Stroudsburg and Wilkes Barre......so lots of places to go all around.
So glad you enjoyed your day......learn the times to avoid the rush traffic.....and you'll do just fine.

We moved up to Scranton from this area. Very warm community. We attended Queen of Peace Church, which is across from the Mr. Z's. But we shopped at Kinsley's. They were the only store to carry Heinze Genuine Dills.

You mentioned Rogers Court. We lived at the end of a Rogers Lane, in Saylorsburg. Allot of fond memory's there.
