Right in the area you have Big Pocono State Park. It's a high mountain summit right up the road from Camelback. I've never been there at sunset but the view is so spectacular from all directions I'd have to believe a sunset would be awesome there. A bit farther up into Wayne county and there is an awesome overlook that I have been at during sunset. I'd have to check exactly where but we saw it coming home from the Wayne County Fair so it is somewhere heading West towards route 81. There is also Marie Antoinette overlook which I have done and is great but it is quite a drive from Monroe County.

.

Big pocono is awesome. The only problem is that it's closed in the winter. Thanks for the other recommendations.

You might try Knob Road in Mt. Pocono. It is on your right as you head north on 611 and just a short distance after you go under the old railroad bridge. All the way on the end it makes one big loop and you have good visibility of the area.

When I drove truck I would stop and take pictures of sunsets and sunrises. I had many pictures that I had taken over the years; but I think they were all on one computer that died. Many of those pictures I took from overlook rest area in NY, on I-84, just before you enter PA. That has a great vantage point of all three states.

That's not in Monroe County. The best places to see the setting sun are where the sun sets over a large body of water. The best place in PA is far out from the mainland on the beach at Presque Isle State Park (which faces west). Just like Malibu.

That is in Erie, correct? Or around that area? I've looked into going there at times. Looks beautiful.

Unfortunately Erie is over 200 miles farther from Monroe than my NY State rest area.
