@Coalman You are right..and I am fine with it..but right now, I haven't a choice..and I am fine with that too.
I am retired retired early and Thank God I don't have a commute anymore..

I do travel back and forth to the Jersey Shore 2-3 times a week from April to November..about 75 miles round trip..I use a lot of gas because the Jeep goes into four wheel while I ride up and down the sand looking for birds diving at bait and fish breaking water..
I don't mind spending gas money on that...

Very fortunate that the gas prices are low here..I got regular in the Jeep this week for 2.27..
Super in the BMW was a bit more expensive...It was snowing and cold when the attendant filled both the cars up.

I am thankful for that too.

Living in Carbon this has not been my experience. I'm outside of Jim Thorpe and gas is averaging $2.68 at the places I drove past over the weekend. Went down 115 in Monroe and the average seemed to be $2.58 on Monday morning. It always seems that Monroe in my area is cheaper than Carbon.

That being said, I always fill up in Jersey.

Nothing wrong with saving a bit of money..
but some people here have heads as hard as Anthracite, and refuse to even consider it.

It's not challenging to pump gas .. But I just can't ask another adult to do what I am well and capable of doing.
.
The Attendants pumping gas @ NJ stations...they are not doing it for free or as a favor..it is their job ..they get paid for it..I fill up at 2 stations within a 1/2 mile of my home..both stations have between 2-4 attendants on the job..there is rarely more than a 3 minute wait for gas..

heavy Pa. crowd..they do an amazing volume of business..with the cross River traffic, a large NJ state office building, NJ Manufacturing Ins., Military Installations, Merril Lynch corp offices, and Capital Health Hospital employees...It's 'gas and go' .. no wait.

I go to both places..the guys give my dog treats, there is free coffee at one place til it runs out..

I tip out 2-3 of the attendants at Christmas..the regulars for the coffee and the dog treats..
we have no choice in pumping our own gas..it's the law...

I don't feel bad about it.

Next month I will be in Puerto Rico...gas prices are through the roof..The last full Service Station where my casa is located went to pump your own about 5 years ago..

I don't mind pumping my own gas..you are right..it isn't hard...
especially when it is sunny, in the 80's, with a light Trade wind blowing through my hair...

I said 'traditionally'. Yes; in recent years it seemed to average out a little more. However; for forty or more years our prices were higher. But, like I said before; we have more 'fun' with our gas/money!

A lot of that tax goes to subsidize SEPTA and PAAC, which serve some of the wealthiest areas of the state. Act 89 of 2013, which authorized the humungous increase was a egregious betrayal of the taxpayers by the corrupt politicians of both parties.

Remember that Ed Rendell wanted to put toll booths on I-80 in order to subsidize SEPTA. If SEPTA needs funds, let the residents of the area pay for it with either a sales tax or a property tax.

True, but I think Gerania was referring to the pump price of gasoline in CA vs PA, not the state tax. CA state law mandates an exotic type of low-carbon gasoline that costs more to produce. This Not-A-Tax is where the high price comes from. Even most Californians don't know exactly why their gas costs more than every other state; they just know it has something to do with Sacramento and maybe Washington, and they blame "the government".

I was just reading recently that despite the blend that comes from specific suppliers, many experts feel the price of gas in CA is pure gouging by those limited number of suppliers.

If that's true then that would be collusion and price fixing, and the CA attorney general is derelict in not going after them.
