Hi all on Christmas Eve I dislocated my right shoulder. I have had surgery on my left shoulder twice and unfortunately I'm starting to be in too much pain. I just want to get it fixed. I don't want to go to therapy three months only to have to get surgery anyway. The new St. Luke's hospital in Bartonsville sucks. They left me suffer for 6 hours with my shoulder dislocated before they fixed it. I need a good shoulder orthopedic guy close to Tobyhanna. I have no family or friends in the area to help me get to and from surgery so I cannot go far I have three kids home. HeLP!!!

Sorry to hear about your shoulder. I really cannot tell you where to go. You might try asking Geisinger in Mt. Pocono and see if they would recommend anybody in their 'system' up in Wilkes-Barre. They are also connected with St. Luke's; but they do have some pretty good doctors in their WB complex. They lost some of those doctors to St. Luke's when they had that merge of services.

There is are a few ortho practices in Scranton. Have you looked there?

I don't have shoulder experience there, but they have specialists.

Google is your friend

You don't have neighbors, friends or relatives who will look after your kids when you are hospitalized and later on when you are incapacitated at home? Do you belong to a church? If you do maybe your pastor can help? You can also contact The Monroe County Assistance Office at 570 424-3030. If they can't help directly, maybe they can suggest a referral organization? There are companies that supply "temporary nannies." There are a few in the NYC area but they probably don't come cheap.

As to transportation to and from the hospital, there are several limousine companies in Monroe County but again, they also don't come cheap.

Thank you, I moved to NEPA alone. I left my life in NJ. I have no one here to come help. I do have one neighbor but honestly he's as reliable as a small child. I will figure it out or cab it when the time comes.

Mountain Valley Orthopedics has an office in Tobbyhanna. We've used their East Stroudsburg office on several occasions.

I had them last year for arthritis in my right knee and I was happy with them - but that was not surgery. Dr. Powers was the man I saw for that. But I have no idea if he would be the best doctor for you? He is listed as: "Knee, Shoulder, Sports Medicine, Elbow, General Orthopedics to include Ankle, Back, Foot, Hand, Hip, Neck, Spine, and Wrist". Like jtab4994 stated; they do have an office close to you by the Mt. Pocono airport. I do not know what doctors are up there on what days.

Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery.
