Hello folks just joined the site today. Right now me and my son live in the Boyertown Area renting and we are considering moving up to the Scranton area to purchase a home.
I've read some of the older posts and I'm sure alot has changed since, maybe.
Questions I have are where would be the best areas for finding homes up to $ 50,000 paying cash no financing, cheapest areas as far as taxes go, convience to stores 2-5 miles, close to State Game Lands, yes I'm a hunter, sorry if that offends you,and of course from what I have read the schools seem pretty decent there.
I know this seems like alot of questions but I just want to do what's best for my son and then myself.
Thanks for your time

I'd look to areas north of Scranton all the way to Carbondale. You should be able to find a house for $50,000 or thereabouts.

Welcome Richbat even tho I'm a newbie here ive been able to find sites and or pages that might answer some questions.

Here is a link to price street if you scroll down ( business & crime in area section) it gives a list of crime in the area. That might help you some.

They have maps of the State Game Lands, I'd suggest looking there and find areas near there.

Are you looking for urban, semi rural or rural? Does it need to be Scranton rea or NEPA area?

Assuming semi rural or rural and NEPA center the map on the realtors site for Rt.29 and Rt. 118. Most of those homes should be the Dallas or Lake Lehman school districts, both are decent schools, especially Dallas. Most of the land north of there is State Game Lands. Ther is large conveninece store right at that junction, super market is about 10 or 15 minute drive more.

Also look in Duryea/Old Forge/Pittston. All are just south of Scranton and would have a lot of homes in your price range. The Pinchot State Forest (formerly Lackawanna State Forest) is a reasonable drive away with plenty of land for hunting (I'm a hunter too).

Doesn't have to be exactly right in Scranton actually would prefer semi rural to rural. I'll look into some of the places mentioned above.
Thanks
