When are they building the Walmart in Hamlin? I heard sometime ago that they were building Walmart where the old Ames used to be.

That is just a rumor. I know someone who works for Wal-Mart transportation in Tobyhanna and he said there are no plans to build one in Hamlin. They have too many now in one area. Dickson City, Honesdale, Mt.Pocono and soon to be Taylor is overkill. I heard they are putting a Super Agway in there.

There was talk about something going in to the large fields across the street from that location, but the land didn't perc, and now that's on hold too.

I heard for years they were going to put something there, but like you said the land didn't perk and you still have a big open field with nothing there. There was talk at one time of putting the Wal-Mart there, but now it's totally out of their plans to put one in Hamlin.

OK, my "city girl" is showing - what's a Super Agway?

I believe someone was making fun of the area because it is rural.

I am also a city person, but an Agway is a garden center that also sells pet food and supplies. I think they sell stuff for farms like feed and such. I guess a Super Agway is a giant sized version of their regular stores.

I read in a local paper a dunkin donuts was approved for that area of hamlin. Also in the area of the car wash on 590 a bagel place was going to be built.

You're right. I heard about the Dunkin' Donuts also. I'm not quite sure where they're thinking of putting it though.

IMO I don't think it would be overkill. It's too far to drive to Honesdale, Scranton, or Mt. Pocono. I hope they rethink it.
