Scranton residents have access to all sorts of shopping ( Weis, Wegmans ) just minutes away in Dickson City, Clarks Summit, etc. What difference does it make if it’s in the city limits or not?

I could be wrong, but I thought part of the Taylor Walmart was in Scranton. Also part of the Viewmont Mall is in Scranton.

Boy this got more responses than I thought. And I appreciate that. I have been to Wegmans and I agree it's great. A little pricey but if you stick to their store brand it's a good price and good quality. Although having to go to three stores for beer, wine and dinner is a little annoying. All right, a lot annoying. I'm not loving the price of gas and milk in this state either.

Thanks for reminding me. I would love to have a Golden Corral around here.
Other eateries are the aforementioned Steak n Shake, Chic Fil-A, Zaxby's, PF Changs and Panda Express(not a fan of those two but my wife is) Dave & Busters(the foods sub par but it's fun) Bojangles, Cook-Out and Jack in the Box. At least there's a Cracker Barrel.

You're in luck because the region's first Steak n Shake is opening in Factoryville at Keystone College. Also there are two Chik Fil-A's in the area: in Scranton at the University of Scranton, and in Wilkes-Barre at King's College (open to the public).

PS - You can buy beer and wine at many local grocery stores (Wegmens, Weis, Gerrity's).

Not all grocery stores have beer and wine, but Wegmens and Weis have had this for years ( beer came first). Gerritys just started last year.

Trader Joes(78 miles away from Scranton)
Costco(82 miles away)
Whole Foods(82 miles away)
Ikea(110 miles away)
REI(100 miles away) or Cabelas(77 miles)
Apple Store(55 miles away)

There is also a surprising lack of supermarkets in Scranton. There's Giant and Gerrity's. That's it. And honestly, neither one is impressive in terms of selection or price. There's of course more choices in Dickson City, but not by much. There's also no decent hardware store, like an Ace or True Value in the city limits. Or a Walmart. It's either go to Dickson City or Taylor. How does a town of 75,000 people not even have a Walmart?

According to Wikipedia, the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre municipal area is the 4th largest in Pennsylvania, yet we have no decent shopping but two casinos. So people have money for gambling but not for Costco?
Too bad you didn't ask this question before you moved. Your concerns are mine exactly. I would have warned you. But I've adjusted. I love wegmans, but it can be a little pricey.
