That is unfortunate that home alarms are lowest on the food chain since you don't know what is happening inside the house. Suppose some big time crime is taking place????

I never said it was the troopers fault. What I said is that you need more coverage.

Oh, definitely need more coverage. SgtGeorge when you move up here you will see how much things are different here as opposed to what you are used to. We were used to a response time less than 4 minutes............but the SP are understaffed and overworked. They also work alone with backup far away. It is all about politics and funding....but I would guess as they area gets more and more populated you might start to see a regional police force like they did in the Westfall and Matamoras areas. Things here are slow to change.

I think everything in this world revolves around politics unfortunately. I'm looking into Hemlock Farms which has it's own police department and Masthope Community which I believe has emergency coverage close by. Thank goodness!

Yes, Hemlock is a self-sufficient community. Costly, but you get what you pay for. I hope to see things change here as far as emergency services go.

Many of the larger developments (Tanglwood Lakes, etc.) in the area have a security patrol (Vector Security does it; there might be others also) that drives around and can respond to house alarms, etc. This takes some of the burden off the SP. Also, as others have stated, the SP cover a very large area, and house alarms (which many times are false alarms) are low on the priorty list when there are traffic accidents and other emergencies to be covered.

Speaking as someone that has always lived in the area, some things are just understood, such as the fact that the police and ambulance will not be arriving instantaneously in the event of an emergency. However, the few times that they were needed, I did not find the response time to be detrimental. We have found our local SP to be very helpful when needed.

Default RE: Long Island VS PA

Hi there, I use to live in NYC and I was looking for a home and I couldn't believe what the taxes were in Long Island. A friend of mine lived up in he Poconos and he told me about the communities and you definitely get more house for your money. We bought in Hemlock Farms. I love it. It is a gated community, which I love cause I am here alot with my children and I feel very safe. The taxes range up here, but they are in the $2000 to $3000, which is a huge difference from Long Island. My uncle has a home in Wantagh and he is trying to sell it cause the taxes are insane, I believe his taxes are around $7800. The people up here are very friendly and very kind. It is great for people that are retiring, cause they have many activities up here and it is safe. It is a great place to live and it is easy to make new friends up here. Good Luck
