Hi. I was originally researching the Stroudsburg area to relocate to, but I really didn't like what I read. We also are looking at Hartfield CT, but I think the Scranton area might also fit our needs for work, and proximity to family. I was hoping to obtain more info about the area.

First, this is a stupid question, but the city tax I read about, is that for working or living in Scranton? Also, how does that work if you are self employed?

As for where we might be interested in living, I don't think we would want to live right in the city itself. But we would want to be within about 1/2 hour drive time.

We want an area where the schools are decent and that are dog friendly and that you can fence your property. We don't want to live in a H.O.A. We are also looking for areas where we can get at least 1/4 an acre. We like the more wooded look, but would be open to other areas as well. We were hoping to find an area where we can get a decent 3 bedroom starter home for under 150,000

Any ideas or recommendations?

Also how do you find out which areas flood when researching homes?

Thank you for any info you can provide.

Check out Dallas. Great schools and strong community involvement.
