I'm so sorry to inform members of this forum that long time poster Theatergypsy has passed away. Her son kindly got in touch with someone who posts here and he reached out to me. Joan had a wonderful long and joy filled life. She last posted on this forum just four days before she died.

Here is her obituary. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries...?pid=198282259 I see that she has asked that in lieu of flowers, her family requests a donation be made in her honor to a Luzerne or Lackawanna County Theater Ensemble.

Found this blog: I'm Only Sayin'...

Let's all raise a glass to Theatergypsy and wish her family good memories and healing. Cheers, Theatergypsy!

Joan was very special to me. I asked her for advice several times over the years and always received a well though out answer to my questions.

She had just received her Covid vaccination on the 22nd of last month. She had experienced cardiac arrest in the waiting room after the shot and did not wake up for three days. That experience did not help her fragile health.

I miss her and I know this forum will not be the same without her. May she rest in peace and condolences to her son and family.

I wonder if her reply to my post on Kearney's Barbeque was her last conscience act? Anyway, RIP Joan.

That was the next to the last post she ever made. At 12:59 on April 2nd she made her last post about Medicaid: https://www.city-data.com/forum/care...l#post60736354. Very close to the end she was still trying to help others giving out great advice! Three days later she died, we will all miss her.

This is the DM that Joan sent me on the 31st of March:

They rushed me to the ER, brought me back, put me on a ventilator and I have no memory of any of it until I woke up on Tuesday in the ICU with a tube down my throat and fully expecting that I would be dead before sundown.

Spent the whole week in the hospital, discharged last night. Still don't remember any of Monday after getting the shot.

I'll never get to the Dollar Tree again!! Dammit.

Oh wow. I just poked my head into this sub-forum for the first time in a long time. Joan was such a great woman and such an asset to City-Data. This makes me so sad!

Also, toobusytoday, would it be possible to reach out to Yac or Marka (or whomever else is "above" you at this point) to see if she can have her screenname changed to black font with "Eternal Member" listed beneath it? I have seen it done for many other deceased members. Thanks!
