Hope will not remove lobbyist from our government.
Hope will not stop our government from printing money they cannot back up.
Hope will not bring a single troop home from Iraq and Afghan.
Hope will not pay a delinquent mortgage payment.

Hope will make you feel better and so does a placebo sometimes! But where's the cure?

Frankly, I get more than a little chuckle out of the conspiracy theories among the locals. I'm not sure if "socialist" is the locals' inarticulate shorthand for "liberal" or whether they (you) actually believe Obama's goals are both to implement a planned economy instead of the market and to abolish private property. I mean, you are aware that those are the two central tenets of a socialist economic system, right?

No, you're not? You mean Obama actually wants to keep a market economy albeit a more regulated one? You mean Obama doesn't want to abolish private property at all? Wait, you mean... he's not socialist then? So, why all the bluster about "socialism" then? Is it a ruse or are you just not aware of the features of comparative economic systems? Socialism is not whatever you want it to mean; it has a specific meaning.

That's not the job of the President. Following that line of thinking, then all the blacks in this country should never commit another crime again, because one of their own has the highest political seat in the country. There's no reason to blame the white man anymore and they should be happy and not angry. I mean black people are making millions at sports and rap music. There should not be anymore bitterness by black people towards white people anymore, now that a black man has made it to the top of the political pole. Everything is right in America now.
Is hope EVER "based in reality Ed"??? Someone's dying of cancer & we HOPE they recover. Statistics & diagnoses say otherwise, but we HOPE. The reality of the situation is their death. We have an important job interview. We HOPE we get the position even though reality is, there's 30 more qualified applicants. Call it a "placebo" or any other term, can you imagine life without any hope??

"Following that line of thinking" in your post, with all the white presidents to date, has that stopped white folks from committing crimes? Stopped bigotry towards blacks?? I know MANY white folks making millions at sports & rock/pop music as well!!

These "moneymaking" blacks AND whites are few & far between, considering the number of blacks & whites in our nation. They are NOT representative of the MANY residents of the ghettos & barrios across our nation.

What black role models are out there now?? A few sports stars & rappers (which IMO are FAR from any role model should be). Now there's a President. An educated, far-thinking, literate family man. (I have yet to hear him say "nook-yu-ler" )

To me, this is HOPE for those black kids in the ghettos to show them that it's "cool" to be educated. It's "cool" to think they can make a change. It's now a REALITY that a black man is President.

That REALITY now brings HOPE.

Financial stocks fell dramatically Tuesday, leading a steep drop on Wall Street, with the Dow Jones industrials down 332 points.
Well we might all lose our shirts in the stock market, but heck the "Muslim world" will be a better place!!

That's called HOPE.

Yes, things are bad & probably will get worse before better, but to have HOPE is a wonderful thing & changes won't happen overnight (and I'm SURE some people will rally on the bandwagon of "well...see I told you so" when they DON'T happen overnight).

Did I ever call you or John or Ed evil?? Did I ever call y'all ignorant or stupid or ANY names?? NO. I said some of the comments made were ignorant. I'm sure y'all think the same about some of my posts as well.

Nobody can predict the future, but trying to MAKE a better future for our kids is SURE AS HELL better than bitter, bigoted sarcasm disguised as "reality".

Yep, God forbid our investments nose-dive in a market that is known to be risky & volatile throughout it's history as opposed to invading, bombing & killing millions of innocent people, their cities, villages, homes & schools over border disputes, oil & man-made religion.

Thank God our priorities are in place.

I guess your the only that ever went to school and studied huh....I'm very well aware of what socialism is and with the continued self-destruction of the free market economy in this country and the continued NATIONALIZATION of our banks and insurance companies we are right on the way to an implemented economy. Basically thats what these bail outs are aren't they? What happens when the gov't starts to take controlling shares in large corporations as part of a national bail out? I see it as the nationalization of our economy....
