While we're on the subject, can you find real hard crusted Kaiser rolls anywhere in NEPA? Keystate Bakery in Wilkes-Barre used to make real hand pounded Kaiser rolls in their anthracite fired hearth ovens but they've been out of business for years.

Ohhhh that's an issue for us too! The Kaisers out here are soft and remind me almost of hamburger rolls. This reminds me I need to pick up bagels, seeded Italian bread and Kaiser rolls on my way home from the Bronx after work tomorrow.

Don't know how far you are from Brodheadsville but remember "The Bagel Experience" has authentic, HUGE, NY-style bagels....give it a shot sometime when you can....you won't regret it....

I'm over near Jim Thorpe. We tried them 2 or 3 times, I honestly was not impressed. They can call them "NY style" but imo they don't have New York taste. It's the water out here.

Dom n Ali's on 903 made the best pizza in the area that I've found. They stopped making it a couple of months ago due to staff shortages. Hopefully, they'll start making it again soon.

I also found The Bagel Experience disappointing. They have crappy hours as well.

They're rarely boiled. It's impossible to find a medium size water bath bagel outside of New York or Philadelphia.

Oh I know. Just one of those things, they’re hyped and then don’t guide hit the mark for me. I work near The Bronx’s Little Italy (and grew up close by) so I still have ease of access to breads and pastries.

Wegmans have water boiled bagels although they are not as good today as they were a few years ago.
