Do not use Creature Comforts, I hear very bad things about them from a lot of people. I use AVH, Dr. Haas. I love him and the staff is great there, but it may be a bit too far of a drive for you?

What about emergency veterinary care, i.e, after hours? Thank you!

I used one, one night.........In Tannersville/Bartonsville area. It was $125.oo just to walk in the door. The visit fee. It was after 7PM and my vet was closing up, and over booked.......
Our vet charges $25.00 if your dog must be put to sleep.........
That night time emergency place was in the high 200's to NOT be with your pet to be put to sleep.
If you wanted to be with your pet it was around $275.......for the service. ( explained different method.....XX??) PS/ My dog is still with me
How can one do it painlessly for $25........I've been there and watched this process.....( peaceful)
Another, .........charging outrageous fees........for the same thing.
I wouldn't use an emergency service unless it was a "have to"..........
Also, it would be good to check out the facts before hand as highstrung is doing......find someone reasonable and honest. I have not found that in this service. I hope others know of one.

The cost can be abominable at an emergency vet... I am also concerned about the proximity. I don't want to have to drive an hour in the dark if I have a really sick pet.

Summering, I agree, I was with my 6 month old yorkie when she died of parvo virus in 1982. She really didnt feel a thing. I was holding her and she just kind of closed her eyes and went limp. I dont understand a 275.00 fee for someone to be with their pet. That is just to discourage the owner from watching.

this is a really old post!

I think Blakeslee Animal Clinic is FANTASTIC. But then again, I'm the vet there so maybe I am a bit biased.

I don't doubt it! My main concern is after hours emergency care that is not an hour away from the Jim Thorpe area...

DO NOT, DO NOT go to the Animal Hospital of Mt. Pocono!!!! I worked there for some time. The doctor is horrible. He is mean to his employees and the pets. Not to mention, his prices are outrageous. I've seen him do mean things to the pets and also the employees including myself. I've worked in this field for 11 years now and I've never encountered any vet like him. If you look in the paper, he is constantly hiring. Please take my advice as a Certified Vet Tech and go elsewhere! I really liked it when I did my externship at Barton Heights. The vets and staff were awesome. I wish I would have taken the job there as apposed to the AHMP. The only reason I didn't was b/c it was too far from where I lived. The only thing is that they can be pricey. Hope this helps.
